Roffa Roll.
House Rules.

Creating new value from what remains.

The Roffa Roll is an Rotterdam based platform for re use, experimentation and collaboration.

We work with different waste streams and explore how materials, stories and people can be reconnected.

We do this without knowing exactly what something eventually become.

Thankfully.

Re-use.

Re-think.

Re-connect.

Article 1.
We don't really believe in waste. niet zo in afval.

We believe in things that have been given to soon. in dingen die te vroeg zijn opgegeven.

Article 2.

Everything leaves traces.

A receipt.

An electionposter.

A shopping list.

A loveletter.

A policy document.

A city.

Article 3.

Not everything has to be new to remain relevant.

Sometimes a second life only begins when the first one is over.

Article 4.

We believe in repair.

Of materials.

Of stories.

Of connections.

Of ideas that had already been written off.

Article 5.

A city is not only build on buildings.

But also of what is forgets.

Article 6.

Perfection is rarely interesting.

Scratchers are history.

Tears are information.

Stains are memories.

Article 7.

Circularity is not a buzzword.

Trees where doing it already.

Fungi too.

Only humans turned it into a PowerPoint.

Article 8.

We like experiments.

Sometimes something has to be a strange idea first.

Article 9.

Most beautiful things emerge between disciplines,
people and coincidence.

Article 10.

Some things become art. Some things become usefull objects.

Some things become conversations.

And some things become toilet paper again.

That's fine too.

Article 11.

The future is not only about what we are yet to make.

But also about what we learn to value again.

Article 12.

We make no distinction between high and low culture.

An election poster is design too. A receipt tells a story too.

Article 13.

Paper forgets surprisingly little.

Article 14.

Not everything that dissapears is lost.

Sometimes it's just sitting in a drawer.

Article 15.

Waste is mostly made up of things no one looked at again yet.

Article 16.

Even an archive has feelings. That's why we treat boxes with respect.

Article 17.

Order is a tempory agreement.

Usally, so is chaos.

Most civilisations, after all, began with a pile of things and someone saying:

"Don't trow that away."

There wasn't much more of a plan.

And look where we are now.

Paper.

Stories.

Urban Leftovers.
